New Siberian Crane Education Activity in Western Russia A new education activity in Russia was recently announced at the Oka State Biosphere Reserve, a captive Siberian Crane breeding center in northwestern Russia. The new project, From the Egg to Flight, centers on cranes at the Oka Reserve in an effort to increase public awareness of Siberian Cranes and wetland conservation. Cameras have been installed in the cranes' enclosures to monitor the birds throughout the spring and summer, and project staff will post regular video clips of the cranes as they raise their chicks on a national birding website (www.birder.ru) for the public to view. For more information on this activity and to view additional photos from the opening celebration, click here.
Julia Gorelova, National SCWP Manager for Russia, describes SCWP activities in Yakutia and West Siberia at the opening celebration for the new education project, From the Egg to Flight at the Oka State Biosphere Reserve.
