New Technical Advisor Appointed for Russia and Kazakstan

We are pleased to introduce Mikhail Stishov as the new Technical Advisor for Russia and Kazakhstan. Mikhail is a Russian national with educational background as a wildlife biologist. He has extensive experience of the Russian protected areas system, ecological research, and database/GIS design and management and has participated in GEF biodiversity conservation projects at federal, regional and site levels.

Mikhail will officially start his duties on 1 June 2005 on a part-time (50%) basis. This position is responsible to the project's Regional Coordination Unit, aiming to provide technical advice and support to the implementation of the project in Russia and Kazakhstan. Duties include provision of technical advice to the national project teams and site staff, technical assistance in carrying out flyway level activities in these countries, and monitoring and evaluation of project activities. He will be based in Moscow.
