Project Inception Workshop held 21 April 2005.

Through co-financed and complementary activities, some significant work has been underway – Naurzum State Nature Reserve has been officially extended by 103,000 ha to include Kulagol Lake, received increased budget allocation, and has been proposed for listing under the World Heritage Convention. Other wetlands of importance for migrating cranes and other waterfowl in northern Kazakhstan have also received improved protection.
